Simple if we see the meaning of this disorder, its just pain in the ear. However, when Eustachian tube is not able to drain excess discharge from the ear, the discharge makes it place in the middle ear, which actually builds the pressure in the ear and due to this ear starts aching. Ear aching itself is not a much concern and can be treated with some medication, oil or by personal hygiene. However, if it does not stops it could be a sign of some other major disorder like allergies, some immune system problems or may be some chronic infections.
Earaches might be caused from loud music or sound, swimming; something gets into the ear like insects etc, use of earphones, not proper cleaning of ear, exposure to too much dust, might happen from atmospheric pressure from airplane travel, deep-sea diving and lot of other factors. Not only this earaches can also originate from some other problems, like pain or infection in jaws, teeth, tonsils, throat, or tongue.
Children are more prone to this pain, cause their Eustachian tube is more straight and short comparing to adults, which makes bacteria reach fast and easily to the middle ear. Cause of its smaller openings of the tube, mucus and pus can accumulate in middle ear causing problems. Earaches can also be caused by cold, Flue, cough, chest infections or other problems. Moreover, the major symptoms are ear pain and hearing loss.
Some antibiotics and some regular cleaning of ear can cure ear infections. However, if it last long or is frequent, do consult a physician.
